cal's friend, gibson, stopped by for a playdate and they had a blast.  gibson had taken his shirt off, so of course, cal ad to take his off also.  then cal was getting ready to have noodles, so gibson had to have noodles, too.

darn contractions

so for the last three mornings, i get these contractions around 4 or 5 am.  they last about an hour or two, aren't consistent, and then fade away.  it drives me crazy!!!  i'll think "oh gosh, i need to wake tucker up; this is it", but then i won't have a contraction for an hour.

tonight they've started up again.  not consistent at all.  we'll see where they lead to...

potty training complete! aka luckiest parents in the world

so, we started the potty training back around easter and decided to let it happen naturally, so we didn't do that weekend thing where you pump the kid full of liquids and make them practice peeing all weekend. we did a couple of naked baby sessions, letting him run around, and we had maybe 1 or 2 accidents. it was working pretty well, but we weren't in any rush.

katie at school said "why don't you just bring a bunch of underwear and pants next week and we'll go cold turkey." so, that's what we did. on monday, he had two accidents - not bad. on tuesday, he had one accident - nice job! on wednesday - no accidents! and we've been accident-free for two weeks now. we do pull-ups at night, but he knows to wake up and yells "i want to potty!", we open the door (he still can't get it open), stumbles to the potty like a little drunken toddler, plops himself down, pees, then stumbles back to bed. the first couple of nights we were waking up like 4 times a night, but now we're down to 1 or 2.

tucker marveled that he couldn't remember the last time he changed a poopy diaper. one parent stopped us at school and said "tell me it's just a rumor that cal's alread potty trained" and we had to blushingly admit it was true. hee hee. see, like i said: we're the luckiest parents in the world!

we believe in karma though, so we're prepared for piglet to be a holy terror.

I couldn't believe it!!! I mean, these are not just fly by night classmate sites, these are legitamate, bonafide, well-known sites, especially gizmodo, which tucker and i read regularly anyway. for those of you less geeky, this is HUGE!!

so i went to the sites and checked it out - there he is, with his pong project. some of them even published the video, so you get to hear adrian explain his project. if you do go read it, check out the comments to the post on gizmodo. tucker's a fairly regular commenter, and i think the comments there are pretty funny.

congrats jill and jonathan!!

my friends jill and jonathan just had their second baby - a boy!  jonathan sent out the cutest announcement email for little Lukas:

Little boy Fiur come blow your horn, at 6:20 in the eve, on May 5th you were born.

The labor was quick, your mom was relieved. The OB got splashed, but she wasn't peeved.

No meds could you take, Jilly, there just wasn't time. I am glad because for vicodin there's no good rhyme.

And a VBAC no less! The momma's a trooper, the pushing and breathing, the woman is super!

No name has this boy, but he has quite a spirit. And as soon as we name him, you'll be sure to hear it.

Natalie is thrilled to be a big sister, even though her siblling's a little "Mr."

Everyone is well, and a little bit tired. But to write this note, I sure was inspired.

With love to you all we'll send more news soon, right after the cow jumps over the moon.

less than a month to go - no outlet shopping

so, i made it back without incident!  ottawa is pretty far away from austin - no direct flights, so it takes a whole day of travelling.  i got my upgrade on the way up, AND got a massage - very nice.  now my doctor has told me i need to stay within the city limits for the last several weeks. 

for any of you who know the story from last time, i went into labor in the morning, but didn't quite recognize it, and proceeded to san marcos for some outlet shopping.  about a couple of hours into it, i was feeling progressively worse, so i made our group cut our trip short and head back to austin (about 45 mins away).  when we got back to austin, i was feeling pretty crappy and thought "this is it, i may be laboring!"  we went to the hospital and the nurses said "whoa, you're fully dilated - we'll have to move fast!"  twenty minutes later, cal was born.

so, that's why no more outlet shopping for me until piglet is born.
