so, most of us know that in pregnancy, the woman's body is going through all sorts of wierd and crazy changes, one of which are out-of-whack hormones (i think that's the official medical term). i am more prone to cry at the end of sappy movies, or get a little huffy with tucker for no reason. last week, i was in the work cafeteria, and decided to get a salad. there are a couple of random people there, so i figured it wouldn't take too long. i got in line behind this guy, who seemed pretty normal - or so i thought. this man took soooo long to assemble his stupid salad - seriously, he was picking each piece of lettuce, doing a quick inspection, then either putting it in his container, or rejecting it back to the pile. i mean, i understand being selective, but this was getting ridiculous. after the lettuce, he moves on to do it with the broccoli! by this time, there was another woman behind me, and i could tell she was getting a little annoyed, too. i took a closer look at this guy, and he did not look like a meticulous salad picker: tall, non-descript, khaki-wearer. finally, he completes his selections and moves to the other side of the salad bar, where the woman behind me has started after being frustrated with salad picker guy. he commences to do the same thing on the other side - how picky can you get about shredded cheese?! and just when i thought he was done, he went BACK TO THE OTHER SIDE, to pick through more lettuce and broccoli.
i seriously wanted to say something to him. i was SOO annoyed, but i didn't know what i could say without being completely rude.
so, finally, with my lunch purchase complete, i go back up to my desk to squeeze in some surfing. one of the news headlines was "oprah opens leadership academy for girls in africa", and of course, i clicked on it. intrigued by the story, i went on to oprah's site that showcases all of her charitable events. i read this slideshow about her orphanage parties, and by the end, i was sniffling over my salad.
that's how crazy my hormones are: one minute i am ready to seriously injure a guy for taking too long in a salad bar, and the next minute, i am crying over an internet slideshow.
Oh Ange -- Getting really annoyed and then moved to tears? Welcome to my world...and I'm not even pregnant! :) Got your voice-mail yesterday, but I've been busy at an offsite meeting. Will try you later on. XOXO
